Nothing quite gets an adidas dad going like Liam Gallagher. Whether in a pub eight pints deep howling “Don’t Look Back in Anger” arms aloft, or wearing a knee-length parka with their hands behind their back in the middle of the summer heat, the former Oasis front man has a certain unexplainable effect on a myriad of British men in particular.
Music to their ears, earlier this year adidas SPEZIAL tapped Gallagher to host an intimate one-off concert at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall to reveal their all-new LG II SPZL.
Following months of speculation a drop date of July 22 has finally been set for the release of the clean and refreshed silhouette, which is based on an adidas archival classic: the Barrington Smash.
Designed to celebrate the undeniable legacy Gallagher has had – and continues to have – on the British music scene, the new limited-edition shoe features an illustration of the 49 year old on the tongue, as well as a co-branded footbed.
This release follows up the pair’s first collaborative release that dropped in-line with Gallagher’s Why Me? Why Not? album release in 2019, which saw them once again dive into the adidas archive for a creamy LG SPZL.
Gallagher – who modestly described the sneakers as “absolutely incredible” earlier this year – has had a busy 2022 thus far, having released his highly-anticipated C’mon You Know album back in May.
Available in limited quantities, you’ll have to have your wits about you if you’re going to land a pair of LG II SPZL come July 22 – even more so once the adidas dads hear about it.
