All your favorite celebrities are on a boat. Or rather, a series of boats docking in Venice for the city’s annual film festival, where anticipated titles including Luca Guadagino’s Bones & All and Noah Baumbach’s White Noise will premiere.
The Venice Film Festival hasn’t officially kicked off (it runs from August 31 to September 10), but that hasn’t stopped our big screen heroes from dressing to the nines — and getting some pretty fabulous port-side photos out of it.
Westworld‘s Tessa Thompson, a master of cool-girl street style, stepped off the water taxi like it was a runway. In a sheer midi dress layered over a black bra and trousers, Thompson let her accessories do the talking: round sunglasses, red leather gloves, an oversized hair bow, and a Vivienne Westwood purse lent the ensemble a certain je ne sais quoi.
Jodie Turner-Smith, a main player in Baumbach’s White Noise, cut a statuesque figure in head-to-toe Gucci (no surprise there, as she’s an ambassador for the Italian house). In an ombré chiffon suit, the actor made a convincing case for see-through in the boardroom.
The legendary Julianne Moore also repped Alessandro Michele. The festival’s Jury President stuck with the classics in a white T-shirt and jeans paired with a Gucci blazer, horsebit loafers, and monogrammed luggage.
Italian actor Maurizio Lombardi looked dapper disembarking in a beige double-breasted jacket and white trousers. His pristine ‘fit is just a hint of what’s to come on the menswear front: Timothée Chalamet, Adam Driver, and Harry Styles are all expected to break out their best at this year’s festival.
Also set to attend are Cate Blanchett, Greta Gerwig, Laura Dern, and Willem Dafoe, so stay tuned — there’s plenty more standout style to look forward to. Who knew getting off a boat could look so good?
