Ye Being Ye, Daniel Lee at Burberry (?) & Farewell to Serena Williams

It’s the weekend, baby!

This week has been one hell of a week, like most other weeks at the moment TBH, but full of a series of, let’s call them, memorable happenings certainly occurred.

Alas, here we are at the weekend, still pretty much in-tact (albeit a little disheveled), ready for two days (or three, depending where you are) away from the grind, ready to sit back, relax, and take it all in.

Inhale, exhale. Ready?

In a week that saw Ye take to the DMs to accuse GAP of copying YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga, rumors also circulated that Louis Vuitton would be appointing its new creative director imminently. Across the fashion pond, whispers also began to surface that Riccardo Tisci was exiting Burberry, with Daniel Lee firmly in the frame as a replacement.

Sticking with high fashion, Balenciaga revealed its eclectic Fall/Winter 2022 campaign (and, yes, it includes Kim Kardashian), while the Matthieu Blazy Bottega Veneta era has officially begun after the showcasing of a pretty special Winter 2022 collection (which too will be available in book form).

Serena Williams went into her final US Open looking to end her tennis career on a high by winning her seventh title in Queens, New York, as Rafael Nadal also took to the Arthur Ashe Stadium clad in a delicate pink number ahead of his first round victory against an Australian wildcard.

That’s not all: we saw plenty of covetable kicks from JJJJound x PUMA, Engineered Garments x Dr. Martens, and Matthew M. Williams’ 1017 ALYX 9SM Nike Slides, with HOKA ONE ONE also returning its excellent Tor Ultra Hi and Low silhouettes.

And breatheeeeeeee. Kick back and relax, and delve into some of the week’s biggest moments with our curated selection of must-read news and deep dives worthy of your precious weekend moments.
