Surprising Sophistication in Fucking Awesome’s Fall 2022 Zine

Fucking Awesome doesn’t make clothing for anyone but its core collective of die-hard followers. So, when Jason Dill’s insular label begins making a push toward surprisingly sophisticated garments, it’s no coincidence.

It’s possible that Fucking Awesome simply hired a few new members onto its design team, bringing in a little more fashion industry experience to make its collections look that much sharper.

It’s also possible that the Fucking Awesome consumer, young though they may be, is surrounded by a plethora of streetwear labels stepping up their game and Fucking Awesome is rising to match.

Supreme is better than ever with creative director Tremaine Emory kicking things into high gear, Stüssy has never been cooler, and even upstart imprints like Tyler the Creator’s GOLF WANG have long evolved past graphic T-shirts alone.

Not that Fucking Awesome is only just now getting into “quality” gear, mind you, it’s just that the past year or two has seen Fucking Awesome truly start feeling itself with brilliantly wearable skatewear partially informed by today’s menswear codes.

Alongside a slew of covetable sneakers, Fucking Awesome is dishing hits like trippy dyed denim sets and instantly sold out Acid Hairy Cardigan.

Fucking Awesome Fall 2022, presented as a stylized zine, keeps the momentum going.

Dropping September 7, 14, and 21 on Fucking Awesome’s website and Los Angeles flagship store, the new collection comes correct with lusciously patterned shirts, more washed-out denim, and statement jackets, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Impressive flourishes abound, from a quilted plaid hunting jacket to a leather-collared wool trucker that nearly matches a pair of slick pleated slacks.

There’s an impressive intarsia-knit sweater woven with barbed wire shapes and collarless cardigans that amp up the elegance but perhaps the cleverest bit is a short-sleeved shirt that transforms Fucking Awesome’s signature Acid Hairy Cardigan into an easy mid-layer appropriate for nearly every season.

Now that’s truly fucking awesome.
