Model: Forum Low “Grinch”
Buy: adidas’ website
Editor’s Notes: adidas heard it was the holiday season, so the German sportswear brand decided to drop a Forum Low inspired by a classic Christmas character: the Mr. Grinch.
For the forthcoming Forum Low sneakers, adidas takes things back to the OG Grinch. I’m not talking about Jim Carrey’s Grinch or the film featuring Tyler, the Creator’s “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” cover.
Instead, the adidas Forum Low boasts Dr. Seuss-level drawings on the insole and lace charms, nodding to the grumpy book character and star of the 1966 television adaptation that started it all.
A mean one? Nah, the Grinch Forum Lows is more a green one than anything as various shades of green take over the shoe, from the cozy terry lining to the hairy suede upper.
I’m kind of content with adidas’ choice of low-cut fuzzy material — rather than going wildly hairy like Cactus Plant Flea Market’s unreleased Dunks — because the suede and impressive colorblocking give it a distinctive cool factor while capturing the essence of the furry character.
The Grinch’s eyes materialize as a tongue tag, mischievously peeking over the adidas shoe’s signature Velcro strap. Meanwhile, neon hues strike the sole and laces while adidas branding assumes its custmoary positions.
Sneakerheads look no further for Christmas drip as adidas Forum Low “Grinch” are expected to arrive sometime in December, just in time for the holidays.
